Hello! I’m Clare Lamberth, owner of Beauty on Latrobe.
This year our beautiful salon turns 12. It’s pretty hard to believe! I remember when this exciting journey began. I bought Beauty on Latrobe when I was just 23 years old. My vision was to provide a unique and indulgent space for people who wanted to invest into their health and beauty.
Over the last 12 years I’ve put my heart and soul into growing the business. We’ve picked up some awards over the years, including Quest Business Achiever of the Year for 2009 and 2010. We were also awarded Ultraceuticals National Clinic of the Year for 2013.
However, it wasn’t always such smooth sailing. Everything changed in March 2013.
Someone broke into and set fire to our beautiful salon, and in that moment the incredible space I had worked so hard to create was all gone. We were forced to close. I remember not knowing what the future of Beauty on Latrobe would be. I was heartbroken — and also pregnant with my first child.
Some things can’t be taken away from you. When that arsonist set fire to our salon, they robbed us of our space and physical resources, but my dreams didn’t burn with the flames.
We managed to secure a makeshift premises until we could fully rebuild. With determination and a stronger desire than ever to serve my clients and get the business back up on its feet, we reopened just six weeks after the fire. For seven months we operated out of the tiny 40 square metre shop front while we hunted for and rebuilt our new home.
I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Grace in July 2013. In October 2014 we found a new home and relocated. It was just next door! 145 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington.
It slowed us down for a little while but the fire certainly couldn’t stop us. In 2016 we were again named Ultraceuticals National Clinic of the Year, a title we still hold to this day.
We’ve definitely had our fair share of ups and downs over the last 12 years, just as all small businesses do. The one constant that remains is the abundant love and support from our gorgeous clients and local community. Our dedication to offering excellence across therapies and customer service will never waver.
Over the last two and a half years I have been fortunate enough to work alongside an incredible team. I want to honour these beautiful people for taking such amazing care of our clients every day. I also want to thank them for the dedication, care and friendship they’ve shared with me.
We really are like family. My team members have been a huge part of shaping who we are today at Beauty on Latrobe.
Also, if you’re a past or present client: thank you. You’ve supported my dreams over the last twelve years and believed in a business determined to serve you with the highest level of quality. We are committed to growing our home even more and can’t wait to see what the next few years bring us.
